The Engram Drawings, 2013

 

​Continuing her exploration of encoded memory, Shuli Sade created Engrams, a new series of large-scale ink drawings on Mylar, each measuring 60 × 110 inches. These monumental works emerge from decoded nighttime photographs of urban landscapes, taken from The New York Times Building in Manhattan. Like ghostly manuscripts, the images are overwritten, erased, and retrieved—collapsing time while dissolving, transforming, and reconstructing space.
